Soy Victoria Labastida potosina de sangre, mujer, esposa, madre de tres hijos y abuela de dos nietos. Nací el 3 de Marzo de 1952.

Estudié Psicología en la Universidad Anáhuac, tengo estudios de posgrado en el extranjero y hablo dos idiomas.

Desde joven, surge mi convicción por el ámbito político y social. Hoy por invitación del Partido Revolucionario Institucional, acepté el reto de la candidatura a la alcaldía de la Capital, donde gracias al voto de los ciudadanos soy la Presidenta Municipal de San Luis Potosí, consciente del enorme compromiso que ello implica.

Comencé mi camino profesional en la Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí (UASLP), cuna de líderes sociales. Ahí, como catedrática de la Facultad de Psicología, encontré una gran oportunidad para incorporarme a la docencia e impulsar el desarrollo de los jóvenes.

En diversos cargos de la administración pública, tanto en la Procuraduría de la Defensa del Menor y la Familia, como en la Gestoría de Gobierno, aprendí que el respeto y el diálogo son herramientas fundamentales para lograr el cambio social que requerimos los potosinos.

He luchado toda mi vida por lograr el respeto, la igualdad y los derechos de las mujeres. Me tocó fundar el Programa Estatal de la Mujer, que hoy es el Instituto Estatal de la Mujer. He trabajado desde la sociedad civil en diversos patronatos para ayudar a grupos vulnerables.

Desde el Congreso del Estado, primero como Oficial Mayor y después como legisladora, mi tarea fue cuidar los recursos públicos y mejorar las leyes.

Hoy, ante este nuevo reto, mi compromiso sigue siendo el mismo: atender las causas populares, motivar la participación ciudadana y ayudar a los más desprotegidos.

Es parte de mí, de lo que estoy hecha, pero sobre todo de mis valores que, al igual que tú, pretendo heredarles a nuestros hijos y nietos.

I am Victoria Labastida. I descend from a blood line native of San Luis; I am a married woman, mother of three children and grandmother of two grandchildren.

I was born on March 3, 1952. I studied Psychology at the Anáhuac University, I have post degree studies made abroad and I speak two languages.

During my youth, my conviction for the political and social environment arose. Today, from an invitation of the Revolucionario Institucional Party, I accepted the challenge of the candidacy to the governorship of the Capital, where thanks to the vote of the citizens, I am Mayoress of San Luis Potosí, and I am aware of the enormous commitment that this implies.

My professional career began in the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí (UASLP), cradle of social leaders. There, as professor at the Faculty of Psychology, I found a great opportunity to incorporate to the teaching and to impel the development of the youths.

In diverse positions of the public administration, both in the Attorney's office for the Defense of the Minors and the Family, as in Government's Management, I learned that the respect and the dialogue are fundamental tools to achieve the social change that the people of San Luis require. Along all my life I have fought to achieve the respect, the equality and the rights of women.

I was in charge of founding the State Women’s Program that today is the State Women’s Institute. Likewise I have worked from the civil society in diverse patronages to help vulnerable groups. At the State Congress, first as Chief Officer and then as legislator, my task was focused on taking care of the public resources and to improve the laws.

Today, before this new challenge, my commitment is still the same: assisting the popular causes, to foster the civic participation and helping the most unprotected. This is part of me, of what I am made, but mainly of my values, which, same as you, I intend to inherit to our children and grandchildren.
