Su fundación se remonta al año 1597, fecha en que el alcalde mayor de San Luis otorgó a Francisco Jocquineque y a los demás indios tlaxcaltecas, 2 mil varas de tierra en cuadro.

Hacia 1820 todavía se llamaba Barrio  de la Santísima Trinidad, y para 1830 ya figuraba con el nombre de San Miguelito. Sus pobladores están muy orgullosos de su Patrono, a quien le cantan una canción que reza: “Viva San Miguel de piedra, que se cae y no se quiebra”, refiriéndose a la escultura de su templo.

Su fiesta patronal se celebra durante el mes de Septiembre.

It was founded in 1597, when the Mayor of San Luis Potosí granted to native Francisco Jocquineque and the other tlaxcaltecans a vaste amount of land.

Its name was “Holy Trinity” neighborhood up until 1820, but by 1830 it changed name to Saint Michael.  Its neighbors are very proud of their Patron Saint, to whom they always sing a song that says: “Saint Michael made out stone, you may fall but never break”, which makes reference to the church sculpture.

Its patron saints’ festivities are celebrated during September.
