Se formó por la tradición de llevar a la Virgen de Guadalupe desde el Santuario hasta la Catedral, donde se rezaba un novenario antes de regresarla al Santuario por el trayecto que llevaba al convento de la Merced a mediados del siglo XVII. Este paseo se extiende entre los barrios de San Sebastián y San Miguelito. También se utilizaba como paseo familiar caminando su corredor con la agradable sombra de los árboles que la flanquean.

The tradition of taking the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe from the Sanctuary to Cathedral, praying during nine days and then bringing her back, established this traditional path since the XVII Century.  This walk led to the Merced convent and through San Sebastián and San Miguelito neighborhoods.  It is also used as a family stroll thanks to the nice tree shade which embraces it.
