Son nuestros templos, palacios, edificios, plazas y fuentes, herencia y patrimonio cultural de los potosinos y del mundo; testigos mudos de la habilidad y el duro trabajo de nuestra gente, esculpidos al golpe del marro y del cincel.

Durante los siglos XVII y XVIII, teniendo clara la vocación minera, la alcaldía mayor de San Luis hizo posible que se esculpieran y tomaran vida los tesoros arquitectónicos que hoy nos dan prestigio mundial de invaluable belleza.

Han sido Escalerillas y su gente, comunidad dedicada a la cantería asentada al poniente de la metrópoli, a sólo cinco kilómetros rumbo a Guadalajara, quienes han dado espacio, forma y carácter a la bella y noble ciudad de San Luis Potosí.

Hoy San Luis finca sus principios en sus raíces, en su arquitectura, en su sentido de la belleza. Así, el estado de nuestro patrimonio tangible se sustenta en el compromiso con nuestra cultura. La experiencia de vivir nuestra ciudad sólo estará completa en el momento en que todos nuestros sentidos vivan la plenitud del esplendor de su cantera y sus cerros azules.

Being Escalerillas’ mining vocation clear, it was during the XVII and XVIII centuries that San Luis’ City Council built most of the beautiful architectural treasures that have given us a worldwide prestige up to nowadays.

Escalerillas and its people, both dedicated to their limestone stripmines and located only 5 km west from the city, have created spaces and given form and personality to our beautiful and noble San Luis Potosí.

At present, San Luis still settles down on its roots, its architecture, its sense of beauty. Therefore, our heritage is mantained on the compromise with our culture.
